AASV Recognizes Purdue Veterinary Graduate as 2024 Young Swine Veterinarian of the Year

Friday, March 1st, 2024 - A Purdue Veterinary Medicine graduate in the DVM Class of 2018 is the recipient of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians’ (AASV) Young Swine Veterinarian of the Year award.



Dean Willie Reed Receives College of Agriculture Distinguished Service Award

Friday, February 16th, 2024 - The annual Purdue Ag Alumni Fish Fry provided the setting recently for the presentation of a special award to Purdue Veterinary Medicine Dean Willie Reed. Held at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds Saturday, February 3, the event was hosted by the Purdue Ag Alumni Association and featured special speakers, exhibits, networking opportunities and announcement of the 2024 recipients of the Ag Alumni Association’s Certificates of Distinction. In addition, the program this year included the awarding of a special honor only given in special instances.



IVMA Recognizes Dean Willie Reed for Lifetime Achievement

Friday, February 9th, 2024 - Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine Dean Willie Reed is the recipient of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA) Lifetime Achievement Award for 2024. The honor was bestowed Thursday, February 1 during the IVMA membership meeting that was held as part of the association’s annual Crossroads Veterinary Conference in Noblesville. Dean Reed also was honored at a reception hosted by the college the next evening.



Purdue Veterinary Student Taylor Jansen Wins Student Seminar Award at AASV Meeting

Friday, March 24th, 2023 - The annual meeting of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) earlier this month included special recognition for second-year Purdue veterinary student Taylor Jansen. During the conference held March 4-7 at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Aurora, Colorado, Taylor won a Student Seminar Award for a presentation on her swine research and received a $2,500 scholarship from the AASV Foundation.



Dr. Sandra San Miguel Recognized for Service to the Indiana Board of Animal Health

Friday, November 11th, 2022 - When the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory’s Advisory Board met this week, the proceedings included a special presentation by State Veterinarian Bret Marsh, who honored Dr. Sandra San Miguel, Associate Dean for Engagement, for her service to the state Board of Animal Health (BOAH).



PVM Honored with National Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award

Friday, October 28th, 2022 - For the third year in a row, the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine has received the national Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education. The award recognizes U.S. health colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion.



International Canine Health Award Presented to PVM Distinguished Professor of Comparative Oncology

Friday, October 7th, 2022 - A long-term passion for advancing treatments for animals and humans with cancer through comparative oncology research was rewarded for Dr. Deborah Knapp, Distinguished Professor of Comparative Oncology, when she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from The Kennel Club Charitable Trust. The honor is one of four International Canine Health Awards given out by the London-based organization. The awards are regarded as the world’s largest and most significant prizes recognizing excellence in canine research, dog health and welfare.



Alumni and Friends Celebration Honors Reunion Classes and Alumni and Teaching Award Winners

Friday, September 30th, 2022 - Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine faculty, staff, alumni, and friends recognized recipients of top alumni and teaching awards, and honored alumni classes celebrating class anniversaries at the Alumni and Friends Celebration during the 2022 Purdue Veterinary Conference. The event was held Thursday evening, September 22, in the Purdue Memorial Union North Ballroom.



Top PVM Alumni and Faculty Awards to be Presented at Purdue Veterinary Conference

Friday, September 16th, 2022 - The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine’s top teaching award and Distinguished Alumnus Award will be presented at the Alumni and Friends Celebration next week during the Purdue Veterinary Conference in the Purdue Memorial Union.



Veterinary Nursing Instructional Technologist Wins National Advising Award

Friday, August 19th, 2022 - Senior Instructional Specialist and Veterinary Nursing Student Life and Activities Coordinator Jennifer Smith was recognized as the SCNAVTA Advisor of the Year Award.
