Equine Herpesvirus (EHV-1)
My project includes a 3 page report on EHV-1 as well as a poster teaching aid. It includes a summary of the disease including the symptoms, prevention, treatment, and secondary diseases of EHV-1. There are also some visual aids including the cycle of the disease and a picture of a cell with the virus.
Does Your Dog Have Worms?
My vet taught me how to run fecal flotation tests on dogs. I checked neighbor’s dogs for hookworms, roundworms, ad whipworms. Then I took my results to the neighbors and educated them about worms.

My electric board consists of six parasites on one side and six hosts on the other that could be likely to get that particular parasite. It also contains two general descriptions of a parasite and why it’s harmful. The purpose of my board is to correctly match the hosts to the parasites or vice versa.

A doe is having trouble being bred and I find out she is cystic. I work with my vet to find a solution for the problem. We use a CIOR and demonstrate how we used it.
This project is about micro-chipping for both small and large animals. The poster includes information about whether micro-chipping is safe, affordable, and reliable. I worked with a local veterinarian to complete this project.

My poster provides information to answer questions that owners of female dogs might have concerning spaying. My poster addresses the benefits, risks, surgical procedure for spaying, as well as how to care for the dog after surgery. I used different resources, including my time job shadowing a vet and observing a dog being spayed, to answer these questions.
