Service Dogs Receive Free Screenings by VTH Ophthalmology Team during Special Eye Exam Event

Falcon’s eyesight is vital to his job as a service demonstration dog, which is why he received a free eye exam as part of a special event conducted for service dogs on May 7 by the Ophthalmology service at Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH).


Purdue Veterinary Medicine on Display at Art, Bark and Brew in Lafayette

The College of Veterinary Medicine was a co-sponsor of the first Art, Bark & Brew, which was held on the Art Museum grounds at 102 South 10th Street in Lafayette from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.


Senior Veterinary Technologist Students Celebrate Success with Senior Project Presentations

Student Artwork Brightens Lynn Hall

The walls in Lynn Hall got a little more colorful with the installation of four new works of art created by three veterinary students in the DVM Class of 2020: Brittany Crenshaw, Andrea Hall, and Kristen Thomas. The artwork was dedicated April 19 during a ceremony led by Dean Willie Reed, who began the PVM family art program eight years ago with the assistance of Professor of Medical Illustration David Williams.


Compelling Keynote to Kick-off Iverson Bell Regional Diversity Summit at Purdue

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine will host the Iverson Bell Midwest Regional Diversity Summit beginning next Friday, May 18, with a keynote address by Glenn E. Singleton, founder of the Pacific Education Group, which seeks to achieve racial equity in education. The Summit, which runs through Sunday, May 20, is designed for faculty, staff, and students to develop their cultural competency and support a diverse and inclusive academic environment.

Visitors flocked to Lynn Hall on Saturday, April 14 for the Purdue Veterinary Medicine Open House. The annual event coincides with Purdue’s Spring Fest to promote education of all the different aspects of veterinary medicine. With the theme, “One Health, One Goal. Because Our Health Depends on Theirs,” the student-organized event aimed to inform guests on the connection between health for humans, animals, and the environment.


PVM Alumnus Shares Experience with the Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program

Dr. Brandon Miller (PU DVM 2014) was searching for a way to stay in Indiana while repaying his veterinary school student debt when he came across the USDA Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program (VMLRP). The USDA administers the federally funded VMLRP, which offers loan forgiveness to veterinarians who commit to serving at least three years in underserved areas. Dr. Miller began applying for and researching the VMLRP program during his fourth year of veterinary school at the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine.


College Prepares for 60th Anniversary Celebration

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2019. “It’s hard to believe that our 60th Anniversary is less than a year away, when it seems like only a couple of years ago we were celebrating our 50th,” PVM Dean Willie Reed said. “To prepare for this next milestone in our College’s history, I have assembled a 60th Anniversary Committee to plan a variety of celebratory activities.” The committee includes faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and is chaired by Dr. Jim Weisman (PU DVM ’97), assistant dean for student affairs and clinical associate professor.
