IVMA Recognizes Dean Willie Reed for Lifetime Achievement

Friday, February 9th, 2024 - Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine Dean Willie Reed is the recipient of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA) Lifetime Achievement Award for 2024. The honor was bestowed Thursday, February 1 during the IVMA membership meeting that was held as part of the association’s annual Crossroads Veterinary Conference in Noblesville. Dean Reed also was honored at a reception hosted by the college the next evening.



Signature Indiana Pork Event at Indianapolis Provides Visibility for Purdue Veterinary Medicine

Friday, January 26th, 2024 - Each year, the Indiana Pork Producers Association, known as Indiana Pork, hosts the Taste of Elegance event in Indianapolis as a way of promoting the pork industry through the creation of tantalizing pork dishes prepared by leading chefs. This year the event on January 17 attracted more than 400 pork farmers, lawmakers, agricultural industry leaders, and dignitaries to the Indiana Roof Ballroom for an evening of elegance and celebration that also provided visibility for the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine.



VMX Conference Provides Opportunity for PVM Grads to Connect in Orlando

Friday, January 26th, 2024 - Purdue Veterinary Medicine alumni, friends, faculty, and staff had the opportunity to gather together in Orlando, Florida at the annual Purdue Alumni and Friends Reception hosted by the college during the North American Veterinary Community’s (NAVC) annual VMX Conference.



Service Anniversaries and Special Achievements Honored at Year-end PVM Ceremony

Friday, January 12th, 2024 - The final work week of 2023 for Purdue University was marked in the College of Veterinary Medicine by a ceremony honoring staff members who achieved significant service anniversaries or completed the online Certificate for Diversity and Inclusion in Veterinary Medicine, as well as those receiving Bravo Awards.



Stethoscope Celebration Welcomes New DVM and Veterinary Nursing Students to Purdue

Friday, September 15th, 2023 - An important Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine tradition kicked-off the new school year for first-year veterinary medicine students in the Class of 2027 as well as veterinary nursing students in the Class of 2026 who are attending classes in Lynn Hall this fall for the first time. The annual Stethoscope Celebration was held September 5 in the Purdue Memorial Union Faculty Lounges. In addition to a full-course meal, the event featured remarks by Dean Willie Reed and the event sponsors, and culminated with the giving of complimentary stethoscopes to the students.



Annual Ag Alumni Fish Fry Shines Spotlight on PVM and Emeritus Faculty Member

Friday, February 10th, 2023 - A longtime Purdue tradition returned to Tippecanoe County as the Annual Ag Alumni Fish Fry was hosted at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds Saturday, February 4, after almost 20 years of being held in Indianapolis. The signature event, which is considered the unofficial homecoming of Indiana Agriculture, reflects the longtime association between the Purdue University colleges of veterinary medicine and agriculture.



ADDL Showcased at Poultry-themed Event in Indianapolis

Friday, February 10th, 2023 - “An Evening Under the Stars with the Indiana State Poultry Association” was the theme for the association’s 2023 annual banquet, where the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine hosted a display highlighting the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL). The event was held Tuesday, February 7 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis and attracted a record turnout.



Purdue Veterinary Medicine is Well Represented at Indiana Pork Producers’ Event

Friday, February 3rd, 2023 - Each year, the Indiana Pork Producers Association hosts the Taste of Elegance to bring talented chefs together for a competition designed to encourage more frequent use of pork in creative, non-traditional ways in menu items. The prestigious event at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis also provides the opportunity for people connected to Indiana agriculture to get together and spend two hours gliding around the dance floor, sampling, and voting on the finalists’ dishes and recognizing the evening’s award winners. This year the occasion attracted more than 450 pork farmers, lawmakers, ag industry leaders, and other dignitaries, including representatives of the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine.



Women Veterinary Deans Share Leadership Wisdom and Insights at PVM Faculty Women’s Luncheon

Friday, June 24th, 2022 - Women on the Purdue Veterinary Medicine faculty received practical help and encouragement to pursue academic leadership opportunities during the 2022 PVM Annual Faculty Women’s Luncheon, which featured a panel of current and past women deans of colleges of veterinary medicine. Held on Monday, April 25, at the Purdue Memorial Union West Faculty Lounge, the event was hosted by the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. 



Awards Recognize Faculty Chosen by Students as Outstanding Educators

Friday, June 24th, 2022 - Many enterprises utilize customer surveys to measure how they are doing. When it comes to teaching, perhaps the toughest critics are the students. The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine annually utilizes student balloting to guide the selection of recipients for several excellence in teaching awards. Four of those awards were given Thursday, April 28, at a special presentation in Lynn 1136.
