Partnership to make Purdue Veterinary Nursing Distance Learning program available to employees at more than 1,000 general practice veterinary hospitals

Already Purdue’s largest online program, the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Veterinary Nursing Distance Learning program is partnering with National Veterinary Associates General Practice to offer the VNDL program to technicians at NVA’s more than 1,000 general practice veterinary hospitals.


PVM Distinguished Professor Suresh Mittal to Speak at Purdue’s Westwood Lecture Series

The Westwood Lecture Series is part of Purdue President Mung Chiang’s efforts aimed at enhancing the intellectual vibrancy of the Purdue West Lafayette campus, and the next featured speaker is Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s Distinguished Professor of Virology, Dr. Suresh Mittal. His presentation entitled, “Universal Influenza Vaccine — An Aspiration or Reality?” is scheduled for January 28, and registration for the lecture is now open.

Three PVM Faculty Receive 2025 Purdue AgSEED Grants

Known by the acronym AgSEED, the Agricultural Science and Extension for Economic Development program is an internal competitive grants system of the Purdue University College of Agriculture that focuses on advancing Indiana’s leadership in plant and animal agriculture and rural growth, especially through entrepreneurial initiatives. This year, three Purdue Veterinary Medicine faculty members are among 17 recipients of 2025 AgSEED grants.

The Purdue Veterinary Medicine community is saddened to learn of the passing of an alumnus, Dr. Baron Brocksmith of Sullivan, Indiana, who died Monday, January 6, 2025. He was 57.


December Graduation Celebration Honors Purdue Veterinary Nursing Graduates

The Sunday after Purdue University’s final exam week in December marked a special occasion for a group of students celebrating as the newest graduates of the Purdue Veterinary Nursing Programs. That day, December 15, the College of Veterinary Medicine hosted the 2024 Purdue Veterinary Nursing Graduation Celebration in Lynn Hall – an event that drew graduates and their families from across the country and beyond.

PVM Faculty among Honorees Recognized at Purdue Faculty Years of Service Luncheon

Purdue University recognized more than 300 faculty members, including 17 in the College of Veterinary Medicine, for their years of service during a celebratory luncheon Dec. 3. Faculty members were honored for service anniversaries ranging from 10 to as many as 55 years during the event in the Purdue Memorial Union North Ballroom.


Purdue Veterinary Medicine Alumnus Named AVP for Animal Resources and Attending Veterinarian

The Office of Research has announced the appointment of a Purdue Veterinary Medicine alumnus, Dr. Patrick Sharp, as assistant vice president for animal resources and attending veterinarian at Purdue, effective Jan. 6, 2025. Dr. Sharp also will serve as clinical professor of comparative pathobiology in the College of Veterinary Medicine.


Purdue Veterinary Medicine Hosts Successful Small Ruminant Producer Workshop

Purdue Farm Animal Hospital clinicians put out the welcome mat on a recent Saturday morning for goat and sheep producers from across Indiana who were looking for practical help and guidance in their roles as commercial and show stock producers. A special half-day Small Ruminant Producer Workshop hosted by the Purdue University Veterinary Hospital on November 23 attracted more than 60 attendees, representing 28 farms.
