PVM Ensures that Animal Health is Included in Purdue’s Healthy Boiler Fair

When the Purdue Memorial Union Ballroom doors opened for the Healthy Boiler Fair recently, the Purdue University Veterinary Hospital was among the Purdue services and departments represented.  The event on Wednesday, October 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., featured an exhibit area that included tables and displays staffed by more than 30 vendors and departments from Purdue and the community.


Students Honored for Completing Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program

Nearly 30 students were recognized this week at the start of the Current Issues in Veterinary Medicine class held on Tuesday, October 15 for their achievement in earning the Certificate for Diversity and Inclusion in Veterinary Medicine.  The certificate is offered through an online program that involves a combination of learning modules, activity assignments, a volunteer community service assignment, and a capstone paper.


New Staff Member Joins PVM Student Success Center

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine welcomes Jennifer Ulutas as the new Lead Administrative Assistant in the Office of Student Success.  Jennifer started September 23.  In her role she will provide direct frontline support to students, staff, and faculty, as well as visitors to the Student Success Center.

Today we are highlighting Sharon Meoli, who is a fourth year DVM student. A faculty member nominated Sharon stating, “Sharon is a non-traditional, second career student. She is married with children; two of whom were delivered in the midst of her DVM coursework. Despite (or perhaps because of) her life experiences, she remains quietly attuned to the needs of others and on many occasions has provided compassion, support and encouragement to those who struggle. I wish we could put one of her in every veterinary practice!”


Coppoc One Health Lecture Brings Princeton Scholar to Purdue to address 21st Century Challenges

Each year, the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine brings a leading One Health scholar to campus to address vital health issues from a One Health perspective that is based on the understanding that human, animal, plant, and environmental health are linked. This year, Princeton scholar Laura Kahn, MD, MPH, MP, will give the annual Coppoc One Health Lecture on the topic, “A One Health Analysis of Food Safety and Security, Antimicrobial Resistance, and Climate Change in the 21st Century.” The presentation at 12:30 p.m. on November 7 in Lynn Hall room 1136 is free and open to the public.

In Memory: Dr. Lawrence Stauffer (PU DVM ’67)

The Purdue Veterinary Medicine community is saddened to learn that a Purdue Distinguished Alumnus, Dr. Lawrence W. “Doc” Stauffer, of Delphi, Indiana, passed away Sunday, September 29. He was 87.


Purdue Homecoming Attendees Flock to Purdue Veterinary Medicine Tent

Homecoming Saturday on the Purdue campus brought a throng of community members and Purdue alumni to the Boilermaker Boulevard where they enjoyed the opportunity to visit a host of tents featuring displays and exhibits organized by Purdue colleges and units. The booths stretched from the Purdue Gateway arch at the entrance to Stadium Mall down to the Engineering Fountain. A particularly popular location was the Purdue Veterinary Medicine tent that featured a team from the Purdue University Veterinary Hospital’s Small Animal Primary Care Service.
