Jennifer Ashley, RVT joined the Department of Veterinary Administration on August 6 as the Veterinary Skills and Competencies Manager. She has been a Purdue Veterinary Medicine staff member since 2006, most recently serving as a veterinary technologist senior instructor.

Practical Focus Guides ADDL’s Bacteriology, Mycology, and Parasitology Sections

When Dr. Kenitra Hammac, clinical assistant professor of veterinary diagnostic microbiology, comes to work each day, she has several goals in mind related to the operation of the Indiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL). That’s because, in addition to being a member of the faculty in Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Comparative Pathobiology, Dr. Hammac also serves as the head of the ADDL sections responsible for bacteriology, mycology, and parasitology. She says most of her goals for the sections are informed by her previous experience in private practice.


PVM Inspires Future Veterinarians at the 2018 Boiler Vet Camps

Over the course of two weeks in June, Purdue Veterinary Medicine hosted 100 campers to give them a first-hand look into the world of veterinary medicine. Unique in Indiana due to its week-long immersive, in-residence format, Boiler Vet Camp (BVC) provides participants with a preview of the roles of veterinary healthcare professionals through the contributions of a strong, broad team of faculty and staff with diverse representation, and dedicated 2nd and 3rd year DVM student camp counselors.


PVM Hosts Successful Iverson Bell Midwest Regional Diversity Summit

Nearly 120 faculty, staff, and students from eleven universities across the country attended the Iverson Bell Midwest Regional Diversity Summit at Purdue University in May. The biennial event is a collaboration among the colleges and schools of veterinary medicine at Purdue, Michigan State University, the University of Minnesota, The Ohio State University, and the University of Wisconsin, with additional sponsorship by Zoetis. The three day program was packed with presentations, workshops, discussions and an awards ceremony.

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine’s This is How We “Role” program has received the 2018 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. The Inspiring Programs in STEM Award honors colleges and universities that encourage and assist students from underrepresented groups to enter the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

2018 Purdue Veterinary Conference Packed with Education, Networking, and Fun!

Learning and networking opportunities for the entire veterinary team make the 2018 Purdue Veterinary Conference the place to be in September! Registration is still available for the 2018 conference, which takes place September 18-22 on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus. Attendees can earn up to 26 continuing education (CE) credits during the conference.
