Lameness Examination

A lameness evaluation is a critical step in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal performance issues in horses. Our lameness examination includes a thorough hands-on assessment, gait analysis (often including a sensor system and software called Equinosis), flexion tests, and, when needed, nerve and joint blocks to pinpoint the source of pain. Diagnostic imaging such as radiographs, ultrasound, or advanced modalities computed tomography and MRI are often used to make a definitive diagnosis.

Based on the diagnostic findings, treatment options may include surgery, joint injections, regenerative therapies, corrective shoeing recommendations, or rehabilitation programs tailored to the horse’s specific needs.

With a focus on accuracy and effectiveness, our lameness services help ensure optimal performance, soundness, and long-term well-being for every horse we evaluate.
