Annual Purdue Veterinary Conference Brings Together Alumni, Students, Staff and Faculty

A festive atmosphere pervaded a week of learning and special events at the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine’s annual conference for veterinarians and veterinary nurses. Held September 17-21 on Purdue University’s West Lafayette campus, the program attracted more than 850 registered participants. Attendees included veterinary professionals, Purdue students, staff and faculty, exhibitors and presenters.


It’s Here! 2024 Purdue Veterinary Conference Starts Tuesday!

Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s signature annual conference for Veterinarians and Veterinary Nurses kicks-off Tuesday, September 17 and continues through Saturday, September 21, with hours of engaging continuing education sessions, special events, keynote presentations, and the annual Dr. Skip Jackson Dog Jog. In total, the conference offers more than 100 sessions, an Exhibit Hall with vendors displaying the latest products, and up to 25 Continuing Education credits. If you missed out on registration, walk-in registration will be available on site.

Public Lecture on the Importance of Animals for Human Development Kicks off Purdue Veterinary Conference

For the first time since the pandemic the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine’s annual Purdue Veterinary Conference will be held in person next month, with a kick-off event involving a public lecture Tuesday evening, September 20 on the importance of animals for human development. The Elanco Human-Animal Bond Lecture will be given by Dr. Gail Melson, Professor Emerita with the Purdue University Department of Human Development and Family Studies, who has played a long-standing role in research related to the human-animal bond.

Specialist in Infectious Disease Pathogenesis to Give Purdue Veterinary Conference Diversity Keynote with Pandemic as Backdrop

This year’s Diversity Keynote speaker for the Purdue Veterinary Conference is Dr. Ian Moore, a veterinarian who heads the Infectious Disease Pathogenesis Section at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).  A researcher whose collaborative studies include influenza viruses, tuberculosis, coronaviruses (MERS, SARS-CoV-1, SARS-CoV-2), human norovirus, and malaria, Dr. Moore will address diversity issues utilizing insights gained from his role as a scholar involved at the federal level in vaccine development.
