PVM Faculty Recognized at Purdue University Honors Ceremony and Celebration

Several Purdue Veterinary Medicine faculty were among the honorees introduced when Purdue University leaders recognized outstanding faculty members and announced the 2026 winners of premier university awards during the Office of the Provost’s annual spring Faculty Honors Ceremony and Celebration. The program on May 6 in the Purdue Memorial Union ballrooms included the presentation of the prestigious Morrill Award and Charles B. Murphy Award, both of which were won by PVM professors.
CPB Graduate Student Shyamkumar T.S. Receives USDA–NIFA Merit Award at Annual Meeting of Society for the Study of Reproduction

Shyamkumar T.S., a Department of Comparative Pathobiology (CPB) graduate student in the laboratory of Dr. Viju Pillai, received the USDA–NIFA Merit Award at the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Society for the Study of Reproduction (SSR) in Indianapolis, Indiana. He also delivered a platform presentation describing his research during the meeting. The SSR Annual Meeting was held July 19-22 at the JW Marriott.
Purdue Veterinary Surgeons Bridge Continents to Meet Need for Orthopedic Surgery Training in South Korea

There is a particular kind of energy that fills a room when veterinarians separated by an ocean and a language discover they speak the same language after all — the language of orthopedic surgery: a well-reduced fracture, a perfectly placed screw, a case that keeps them up at night wondering if they did right by their patient. That energy filled a classroom in South Korea earlier this month when Dr. Sarah Malek, associate professor of small animal orthopedic surgery at the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, and her surgery colleague in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Dr. Mark Rochat, delivered the first Veterinary Orthopedic Essentials (VOE) course to 24 South Korean veterinarians.

On Monday, June 29, 2026, more than 100 faculty and staff from the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences and the Purdue University Veterinary Hospital gathered at Thomas Duncan Hall for the 2026 Resident and Intern Recognition Ceremony. This annual event provides a great opportunity to honor and celebrate the contributions of the residents, interns, and graduate students who are completing their programs this summer.

College of Veterinary Medicine Graduates Honored at Two Ceremonies During Purdue’s 2026 Commencement Weekend

A change in Purdue University’s traditional commencement weekend schedule resulted in two ceremonies recognizing graduates of the College of Veterinary Medicine in May. This year, veterinary technology graduates were honored at a ceremony that was separate from the commencement program for the DVM graduates. That’s because the university recognized all doctoral degree candidates in a single ceremony on Saturday, May 16. As a result, the veterinary technology degree recipients were honored Thursday, May 14, at one of several ceremonies for undergraduate degree candidates. Following that ceremony, the college hosted its traditional oath ceremony for the 2026 graduates of the Purdue Veterinary Technology program in the Purdue Memorial Union North Ballroom.
White Coat Ceremony Celebrates Third-year Veterinary Students’ Transition to Clinical Year

The Purdue Memorial Union ballrooms provided a classic setting for an annual event that has become a cherished tradition of the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. Members of the DVM Class of 2027 gathered with family, friends, faculty and staff on the evening of April 18 for the annual White Coat Ceremony that signals the transition of the third year veterinary students from the classroom to the clinics.
Purdue Veterinary Medicine Launches Pet Care App for Apple Platforms

As part of a partnership with Purdue University’s Spatial Computing Hub, the College of Veterinary Medicine launched Purdue Vet Med (PVM) Pro Tips for companion animal owners. The app, which is available for Apple Vision Pro, iPad and iPhone, offers step-by-step tutorials for providing at-home care to cats, dogs, horses and birds.
