Upcoming Purdue Day of Giving Enables People and Pups to Unite for a Good Cause

Purdue University’s ever-popular 24-hour online-based annual fundraising effort – the Purdue Day of Giving – will take place Wednesday, April 30. That’s when Boilermakers across the world will have the opportunity to rally around this year’s theme of “All Hail!” – words taken from Purdue’s beloved fight song. For the College of Veterinary Medicine, this special day of giving will focus attention on ways Boilermaker alumni, fans and friends can support animal and human health and well-being by contributing to a variety of Purdue Veterinary Medicine funds.

The college is inviting not only alumni, but also all Purdue University Veterinary Hospital clients — past and present — to join in the Purdue Day of Giving to support advanced, compassionate care that changes lives. The College of Veterinary Medicine’s mission is to advance animal and human health and well-being through excellence in teaching, research, and service. Every patient treated by the Veterinary Hospital — every beloved animal — reflects the importance and impact of that mission.

If your animal companion has received care at Purdue, or you simply believe in the value of compassionate, innovative veterinary medical treatment, the Purdue Day of Giving provides the perfect opportunity to make a difference. Your participation will help the college continue providing state-of-the-art care while educating the next generation of veterinary professionals.

There are multiple ways to help, including by participating in Purdue Day of Giving Challenges. So, just follow any of these steps:

On Wednesday, April 30, make a gift to support the Veterinary Hospital, veterinary education, and community service.
Post a creative photo of your pet in Purdue gear that evening between 8:00 and 8:59 p.m. ET on Instagram or Twitter using #PurdueDayofGiving and #PurdueVetMed, and make sure to tag @pucvm! If your photo is selected as the most creative picture of a pet in Purdue gear, you will help the college win bonus funds!
Start the day in Lynn Hall by joining Dean Bret Marsh for coffee and donuts in LYNN 1192 between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m.

PVM Symposium Offers MOAAR Education on Medicine of Aquatics, Amphibians and Reptiles

Veterinary professionals and students gathered recently at the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine to take advantage of a special opportunity to enhance their knowledge and expertise about the care and treatment of aquatic, amphibian, and reptilian species. The fifth biennial Medicine of Aquatics, Amphibians, and Reptiles (MOAAR) Symposium was held October 18–19, at Lynn Hall on Purdue University’s West Lafayette campus, bringing together veterinarians, veterinary technicians, students, and experts dedicated to the care of exotic species.

Local Veterinary Celebration Highlights Global Veterinary Education

Going global is a popular ambition in the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine as evidenced by the turnout for the college’s annual Global Engagement Fair last Friday, October 17. Held in the Veterinary Medical Library in Lynn Hall, the festive event featured international cuisine and displays about various study abroad opportunities available to Purdue DVM and Veterinary Technology students.
