Office for Diversity and Inclusion

The Purdue Veterinary Medicine Office for Diversity and Inclusion works to broaden individual and collective understanding of and appreciation for diversity, cultural competence, and inclusive excellence within the College of Veterinary Medicine. Our faculty, staff and students are encouraged to increase cultural competence through curricular and co-curricular activities, as well as professional advancement opportunities.

Diversity, equity and inclusiveness are at the forefront of higher education. To address this, we aim to increase students' knowledge of issues pertaining to a diverse society and enable them to thrive in an inclusive environment. We strive to make these discussions and learning opportunities relevant and immediately impactful by using the context of the veterinary medical academic and clinical environments whenever possible.

Assistant Dean of Diversity and Inclusion

Our overarching goal is to lead by example, providing students with an idea of how to respond to multiple layers of diversity issues specific to the veterinary medical profession. These issues include recruiting and retaining faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds and engaging our students with opportunities to increase their intercultural competencies. Our approach is vital for the success of our future graduates who will practice in an increasingly multicultural and global veterinary medical marketplace.

Thoughts and suggestions are welcome. You may reach the Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, Dr. Kauline Cipriani, at or (765) 496-1940.
