Nelli Lab

Nelli Lab develops advanced 3D cell culture models and high-throughput diagnostics to address critical diseases affecting animals and humans.

Our research focuses on viral pathogenesis and host immune responses, particularly coronaviruses and influenza viruses at the animal-human interface.

We take pride in our innovative, high-throughput diagnostic solutions and in training the next generation of professionals.

Our Research

Building better models for infectious disease research

Three-dimensional cell cultures closely resemble the complex physiological functions of animal organs, making them valuable tools for studying organ development, modeling disease, discovering drugs, personalizing medicine, and investigating host-specific immune responses to pathogens.

Nelli Lab has established 3D cell cultures across multiple tissues and animal species to investigate molecular mechanisms at transcriptomic and proteomic levels.

High-throughput qPCR testing services

Running qPCR assays for 12 genes across 128 triplicate samples on a 96-well plate can require approximately 16 plates, around 30 mL of master mix, and about 32 hours to complete two-hour qPCR reactions.

Nelli Lab offers SmartChip qPCR assays that can accomplish the same task in about 4 hours, using only about 2 mL of master mix and eliminating inter-plate variability.
