Record Giving Advances College’s Mission and Vision

Dean Willie Reed and the college’s Canine Educators participated in the Purdue Day of Giving Relay during the 10th annual giving event, which raised $1.45 million for Purdue Veterinary Medicine through 226 gifts.

Fiscal year 2022-23 was another incredible showing of love and loyalty from alumni, clients, and friends of the College of Veterinary Medicine! The third consecutive year of philanthropic support totaling over $20 million demonstrates that the college’s mission to advance global animal and human health and well-being through excellence in learning, discovery, and engagement is a meaningful cause to join. The college is grateful for this support and the opportunity to utilize this investment to move the world forward.

Highlights from the past year include:

  • Establishment of the new Evan and Sue Ann Werling Comparative Oncology Research Center
  • Creation of the new Raj and Melissa Singh Veterinary Dentistry Professorship
  • Multiple investments in the future of the Purdue University Veterinary Hospital’s Cardiology Service
  • Sizable scholarship endowments to significantly decrease student debt
  • Continued support to assist in providing state-of-the-art equipment for the Veterinary Hospital

Purdue Veterinary Medicine Alumnus Named AVP for Animal Resources and Attending Veterinarian

The Office of Research has announced the appointment of a Purdue Veterinary Medicine alumnus, Dr. Patrick Sharp, as assistant vice president for animal resources and attending veterinarian at Purdue, effective Jan. 6, 2025. Dr. Sharp also will serve as clinical professor of comparative pathobiology in the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Purdue Veterinary Medicine Hosts Successful Small Ruminant Producer Workshop

Purdue Farm Animal Hospital clinicians put out the welcome mat on a recent Saturday morning for goat and sheep producers from across Indiana who were looking for practical help and guidance in their roles as commercial and show stock producers. A special half-day Small Ruminant Producer Workshop hosted by the Purdue University Veterinary Hospital on November 23 attracted more than 60 attendees, representing 28 farms.

ADDL and Farm Animal Hospital Showcased at 2024 Midwest Pork Conference

More than 300 Indiana pork producers gathered this week in Noblesville, Indiana for the 2024 Midwest Pork Conference, where they had the opportunity to interact with representatives of the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. The Indiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory and Purdue University Farm Animal Hospital were highlighted at the conference’s trade show, which featured more than 50 vendors and served as a center of activity for pork producers, veterinarians, legislators, and industry leaders.
