Purdue Veterinary Medicine Seeks Distinguished Alumni Award Nominations by February 2

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine is now accepting nominations for its Distinguished Alumni Awards that honor exceptional graduates whose careers as veterinarians and veterinary technicians and technologists exemplify leadership, service, and impact in veterinary medicine and animal health.

As part of a newly revised and streamlined nomination process, nominations may be submitted to the college electronically and are due by Monday, February 2, 2026. Award recipients will be recognized during the college’s Dean’s Dinner of Distinction, which will be held in April as a signature event celebrating the excellence and service of Purdue Veterinary Medicine alumni.

“These awards allow us to recognize the extraordinary contributions our alumni make every day—often behind the scenes—to protect animal health, advance public health, support agriculture, and improve the lives of people and animals alike,” said Purdue Veterinary Medicine Dean Bret Marsh, DVM. “Veterinarians and veterinary technicians and technologists are essential to our communities, our food system, biomedical research, and the human–animal bond.”

Veterinary professionals play a vital role across society—from caring for companion animals, safeguarding livestock, and ensuring a safe food supply, to advancing medical research, responding to emerging diseases, and supporting rural and underserved communities. “Their work directly contributes to economic stability, public health, and quality of life,” Dean Marsh said. “Recognizing these professionals not only honors individual achievement but also elevates the profession and inspires future generations.”

The Distinguished Alumni Awards celebrate alumni who have demonstrated:

  • professional excellence and leadership
  • meaningful service to the veterinary profession and society
  • a commitment to innovation, education, or community impact
  • a lasting connection to Purdue University and its mission

The Awards are open to Purdue alumni who are DVMs or Veterinary Technicians and Technologists, reflecting the collaborative nature of veterinary teams and the essential role each professional plays in delivering high-quality care.

Alumni, colleagues, and friends of the college are encouraged to submit nominations and help shine a light on those whose dedication and expertise make a difference every day. Nomination guidelines, eligibility criteria, application materials, and an electronic submission form are available on the college’s website or contact Julia Wickard, Executive Director and Constituent Liaison, Purdue Veterinary Alumni Association at wickard@purdue.edu.
