Dr. Skip Jackson Dog Jog to Raise Funds for Shelter Medicine at Conclusion of Purdue Veterinary Conference

Dog Jog participants walk and run along a path on Purdue's campus
Members of the community are invited to join in the all ages, dog-friendly 5K on Saturday, September 23.

The Dr. Skip Jackson Dog Jog 5K will serve as a fitting capstone event for the 2023 Purdue Veterinary Conference when it is held Saturday, September 23, at the conclusion of the conference week. Race check-in will start at 7:00 a.m. by the Continuum sculpture in front of Lynn Hall. Then the human and canine runners and walkers will charge out on the course at 8:00 a.m., when Dean Willie Reed officially signals the start of the race. The course will lead the participants, both humans and their furry companions, around landmarks on the south side of the Purdue campus.

“We are very excited this year to partner with a couple of local animal shelters that will be bringing adoptable dogs for participants to run with if they would like,” said Allison Holahan, of the DVM Class of 2025, who is helping to coordinate this year’s event. Proceeds from the Dr. Skip Jackson Dog Jog will support Priority 4 Paws, a shelter medicine program providing high-quality medical and surgical care for shelter animals while educating the next generation of veterinarians. “Last year more than 170 humans and 60 dogs participated in the event and this year we are hoping to surpass those numbers,” Allison said.

There’s still time to register and qualify to receive a participant t-shirt!

  • Human Registration is $30 and includes an event t-shirt, bib, and participant medal
  • Human + Dog Registration is $35 and also includes the t-shirt, bib, and participant medal as well as an event bandana for the dog
