The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine has selected Dr. Ellen Lowery, a veterinarian on the faculty of Kansas State University, as the new director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Purdue Veterinary Medicine Dean Willie Reed announced the appointment, which is effective February 1.

Pacesetters Lead New Hospital Campaign with Major Gifts

As part of its 60th Anniversary celebration this year, Purdue Veterinary Medicine announced plans to build a new veterinary hospital, combining world-class experts with a premier facility and advanced technology. In order to set a strong foundation for the related Leave A Print fundraising campaign, PVM has been searching for 60 Pacesetters to make lead major gifts of $25,000 or more to the project.


New Grant for Priority 4 Paws Supports Shelter Medicine Education and Services

Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s mobile surgery unit, Priority 4 Paws (P4P), is a shelter medicine program that combines community service with education to provide invaluable learning experiences for fourth-year veterinary students. Now the program is getting a significant boost in the form of a $150,000 grant from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust. Dr. Emily Curry, visiting assistant professor of mobile surgery and shelter medicine, says the funding will enhance the mobile surgery unit’s service-learning initiatives in partnership with Marion County, Ind., animal shelters.

Purdue Approval Clears Way for Construction of New Hospital

Years of dreaming and planning came to fruition as Purdue University took the final administrative steps during the summer toward construction of the new Veterinary Teaching Hospital, as the Purdue Trustees approved plans to finance, develop, and award construction contracts. Purdue Veterinary Medicine Dean Willie Reed has been laying groundwork for the new facility since 2007.
