Specialty Training Begins for 17 Clinical Residents

A new class of clinical residents joined the Veterinary Clinical Sciences and Comparative Pathobiology Departments this summer, embarking on a three year journey into specialty training that represents the next phase of their careers as veterinarians. A total of 17 first-year residents, representing eleven different specialty areas, began their residencies July 15 with an extensive orientation program.


Taco ‘Bout Amazing!  PVM Faculty and Staff Flock to Outdoor Appreciation Luncheon

Upcoming Purdue Veterinary Conference to Feature Presentation of Distinguished Alumni Awards

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine will recognize two more graduates as Distinguished Alumni in September during the 2024 Purdue Veterinary Conference. One honoree is Dr. F. Claire Hankenson, of the DVM Class of 1997. The other is Dr. Kelly G. Whitesel, of the DVM Class of 1972.


Purdue and Akston Biosciences Sign Partnership Agreement for Dog Cancer Drug Development

Akston Biosciences Corporation, which is dedicated to accelerating the biologics revolution in Animal Health, and Purdue University have announced a strategic partnership to co-develop an anti-cPD-L1 monoclonal antibody (mAb) immunotherapy to treat cancer in dogs. The underlying technology was developed at the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine and the Purdue Institute for Cancer Research (PICR).


PVM Faculty Member Recognized by Texas A&M University as Rising Star Alumna

Dr. Michelle Tucker, Purdue Veterinary Medicine assistant professor of large animal surgery, received special recognition by her alma mater, the Texas A&M University School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS). Dr. Tucker is one of seven Texas A&M VMBS alumni recognized in May at the college’s 2024 Outstanding Alumni & Rising Star Awards Ceremony.


New Purdue Veterinary Nursing Graduates Take Oath During Graduation Celebration

Purdue Veterinary Medicine Interim Dean S. Kathleen Salisbury welcomed the college’s newest Veterinary Nursing alumni and their families to the Summer 2024 Veterinary Nursing Graduation Celebration held in Lynn Hall Saturday, August 3. The ceremony included individual recognition of each graduate present and the traditional recitation of the Indiana Veterinary Technician Oath of Ethical Conduct.


In Memory – Dr. Richard Peter Chaille (PU DVM ’78)
