Virtual Booth to Showcase PVM at Annual IVMA Crossroads Conference Beginning Today

As with many events this year, the IVMA’s annual Crossroads Conference will take place virtually, but that won’t negate Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s ability to have a presence at the event.  The College of Veterinary Medicine will host a virtual booth during the conference that began yesterday (Thursday, February 4). Presented to registrants through the IVMA website, conference educational sessions span business hours through the end of the day today and then continue during evenings February 9-11.

Director of Alumni Relations and Special Events Susan Xioufaridou worked with Breightly, the service provider for the virtual conference, to fashion a booth that has a wide variety of information. Visitors to the booth can see the latest updates on construction of the new Purdue University Veterinary Hospital as well as information about PVM continuing education offerings. While visiting the booth, guests are encouraged to update their contact information to receive a free prize.

To engage with guests in the booth, programs have been arranged to provide information on PVM’s alumni association and the current student experience, as follows:

  • Friday, February 5, until 2:00 p.m. – ALUMNI DAY!
Stop by and show us your Purdue attire for a chance to win a prize!
  • Saturday, February 6, 11:50 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – CLINICAL YEAR EXPERIENCE AT PVM
Learn how the clinical experiences available to our 4th year DVM students have evolved. How do those experiences help our students acquire the professional skills needed in today’s veterinary practices?  Two of our students will be available live via Zoom to answer questions and discuss their experiences.
  • Tuesday, February 9, 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. – TBA
  • Thursday, February 11, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. – TOUR THE CLINICAL SKILLS LAB
Follow two PVM students while they show some of the models that they are able to practice with during classes and after hours to enhance their preparedness for clinical rotations. This new lab has a lot of amazing resources. Questions welcome!

While continuing education sessions are available only to registered guests of the conference, the virtual exhibit hall is open to all IVMA members. Click here to access the booth. Click here for more information on the IVMA Crossroads Conference.

Santa Pays Visit to PVM’s Canine Educators

Since a dog is “Man’s Best Friend,” it’s no surprise that Santa would be sure to include time for a visit with some friendly pups in his crowded schedule during this special time of year! And so, Santa indeed showed-up last Friday, December 6, at the festive display that features a variety of holiday decorations on the ground floor at the main east entrance to Lynn Hall, to be met by an enthusiastic troupe of Canine Educators who seemed all too anxious to share their wish lists! Plenty of other furry friends of PVM students, staff and faculty got in on the act as well!
