Graduate Research Assistant
Jessica Craig is a Comparative Pathobiology PhD student research assistant with the Beauvais lab pursuing research on one health, emerging and reemerging pathogens, infectious disease epidemiology and surveillance, and antimicrobial resistance.
She has a particular interest in global health and previously worked across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East as a public health researcher and epidemiologist. Jessica holds undergraduate degrees in Microbiology and English Writing from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters degree in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from George Washington University.

Lab Alumnus
Jess Dennehy successfully completed her MSc thesis at the Royal Veterinary College, London, co-supervised by Wendy Beauvais. She modeled interactions between free-living amoebae and Pasteurella multocida. Jess is now working as a Research Assistant at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Eric Kontowicz
Postdoctoral Researcher
Eric Kontowicz graduated with his PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Iowa in 2020 and is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Eric’s PhD work focused on identifying novel environmental risk factors for zoonotic diseases, disease transmission, and evaluating their use in disease prediction. Currently, Eric is continuing to study zoonotic diseases with his work as a member of the Beauvais Lab group. In this research he has developed metapopulation models to evaluate swine influenza transmission on a typical U.S. indoor hog growing unit. The objective of Eric’s work is to evaluate the effects of hog vaccination and nonpharmaceutical interventions on bidirectional influenza transmission between workers and hogs on an indoor hog growing unit. Eric is also working to expand these metapopulation models to a network of hog farms to better explore the effects of influenza control measures at reducing the risk of influenza transmission between hog farms.
