Preserve whole parasites (helminths, other worms) in 70% ethanol or 5-10% formalin, or refrigerated water.
For athropods (ticks, lice, etc.) - 1) submit live, not adhered to tape, OR, preserved in 70% ethanol (preferred), or 5-10% formalin.
If shipping different samples or tissue types, clearly label each container with owner and animal ID (if applicable) and sample/tissue type. Ship specimens overnight with an ice pack. DO NOT SHIP OVER WEEKEND OR HOLIDAY.
