Where Can I Find Vet Tech or Vet Nursing Jobs?

Whether you're a newly credentialed vet tech or an experienced vet nurse seeking a change from your current position, finding vet tech jobs can be straightforward if you know where to look. Here are some excellent resources to help you in your job search:

1. Online Job Boards

Online job boards can be a great place to start your search. Websites like Indeed, Monster, and Glassdoor regularly post new vet tech positions from across the country. You can create a profile, upload your resume, and even set up job alerts to be notified when new jobs matching your criteria are posted. Make sure you double check the job posting dates to ensure they are current.

2. Professional Associations

Many professional associations have job boards on their websites. For example, the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) has a Job Board, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has a Career Center, and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) also has a Career Center.

3. Social Media

LinkedIn is an excellent resource for finding jobs. Not only can you search for vet tech jobs, but you can also network with other professionals in your field and follow companies you're interested in to see when they post new positions. Facebook groups dedicated to vet tech careers can also be a good source of job postings.

4. Local Clinics and Hospitals

Don't forget about your local veterinary clinics and animal hospitals. They may not always advertise their openings online, so it can be beneficial to drop off your resume in person or check their websites regularly.

5. Veterinary Schools or Colleges

If you're a recent graduate, don't forget to utilize your school's career center. They often have job boards with postings from local clinics and hospitals looking for new graduates. For example, Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine has a Careers webpage that lists current openings within the College.

6. Networking

Networking can be a powerful tool in your job search. Let your classmates, professors, and internship supervisors know that you're looking for a job. Attend industry conferences, seminars, and other events to meet potential employers and learn about job openings.
