Enter Nadia Lanman, research associate professor in the Department of Comparative Pathobiology, whose expertise in computational biology helps researchers at Purdue University distill solutions from the sea of numbers.


Two PVM Faculty Members Recognized with Purdue Seed for Success Acorn Awards

Purdue University has released this year’s list of Purdue researchers who received the university’s prestigious Seed for Success Acorn Awards, and the honorees include two Department of Basic Medical Sciences faculty members.  The Seed for Success Acorn Awards are presented by the Office of Research to recognize investigators for their accomplishment in obtaining external sponsored awards of $1 million or more.


New BMS Department Head Makes Enthusiastic Return to Purdue to Take on New Leadership Role

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Basic Medical Sciences has a new leader as of November 1. Michael K. Wendt, Ph.D., was appointed as department head and professor of basic medical sciences last month. He succeeds Dr. Susan Mendrysa, who has been serving as interim department head and was named as the college’s associate dean for research in March. 


Faculty Receive Recognition at Purdue Veterinary Medicine Fall Awards Celebration

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine celebrated the accomplishments of outstanding faculty at a special Faculty Awards Celebration held in Lynn Hall.  The recognition program Thursday, October 23, featured the presentation of four awards for outstanding teaching and excellence in research and service, as well as a new award named in honor of Dean Emeritus Willie Reed and State Representative Sheila Klinker, that recognizes an exemplary community partnership.


Local Veterinary Celebration Highlights Global Veterinary Education

Going global is a popular ambition in the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine as evidenced by the turnout for the college’s annual Global Engagement Fair last Friday, October 17. Held in the Veterinary Medical Library in Lynn Hall, the festive event featured international cuisine and displays about various study abroad opportunities available to Purdue DVM and Veterinary Technology students.

Purdue Veterinary Conference Proves Popular as Overall Attendance Tops 1,000

Strong turnout characterized the 2025 Purdue Veterinary Conference with the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine welcoming more than 1,000 participants to the annual event.  Held September 16–20 on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus, the annual continuing education conference for veterinary professionals attracted more than 240 veterinarians and 180 veterinary technicians/veterinary nurses, along with industry representatives and exhibitors as well as Purdue Veterinary Medicine faculty, staff, and students.


Purdue Alumnus and Boarded Oncology Specialist Named as New Interim Associate Dean for Hospital Operations

Dr. Christopher Fulkerson, clinical associate professor of veterinary medical oncology, has been named as the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine’s new interim associate dean for hospital operations. The appointment, effective immediately, was announced Monday, September 8 by the dean of the college, Dr. Bret D. Marsh.


Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine Names New Senior Director of Admissions and Student Success

A key Purdue Veterinary Medicine staff member who has played a vital role in admissions and recruitment will now serve as the new senior director of admissions and student success. Lori Stout has been promoted to the position and Dean Bret Marsh announced the appointment Tuesday, August 26.
