An important annual event for the Indiana poultry industry took place this week and the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine had a visible presence to demonstrate its commitment to poultry producers. The event was the Indiana State Poultry Association (ISPA) annual Johndrew Memorial Golf Outing that was held Wednesday, September 10 at the Fort Golf Course at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis. Purdue Veterinary Medicine hosted a display on the tee box for the third hole to highlight the importance of the Indiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL), which consists of the Reed ADDL in West Lafayette and the Heeke ADDL at the Southern Indiana Purdue Agriculture Center near Dubois, Indiana. Golf outing attendees represented poultry producers, allied industry, as well as the USDA and Purdue University.

As attendees teed up at hole three for an opportunity to sink a hole-in-one for a vacation prize, they were able to visit the ADDL booth that provided promotional items and information about ADDL services. On-hand to represent the ADDL were Dr. Kenitra Hendrix, director and associate dean for the veterinary diagnostic laboratories; Dr. Craig Bowen, associate director; Dr. Mojtaba Daneshi, client services veterinarian; and Dr. Grant Burcham, veterinary diagnostician and head of the Heeke ADDL. Together they fielded many questions from clients about diagnostic services and Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza.
