In Memory: Dr. Lynn Hanrahan (PU DVM ’63)

The Purdue Veterinary Medicine family is saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Lynn Allen Hanrahan, of Jasper, Ala., who was a member of the College’s first veterinary class, the Class of 1963.  Dr. Hanrahan died December 8.  He was 83.

After earning his Purdue DVM degree, Dr. Hanrahan went on to earn his PhD in veterinary pathology at Auburn University. He worked as a practicing veterinarian in Valparaiso, Ind., for more than ten years, and taught pathology at both Texas A&M and Auburn University. He retired from teaching in 1993, when he founded a family restaurant in Auburn, Ala.

Dr. Hanrahan enjoyed fishing, working on projects, and built several homes in Auburn and Gulf Shores, Ala. He also restored old farm machinery.  He was an active member of Mount Joy Baptist Church in Jasper, where funeral services were held December 11. The Collins-Burke Funeral Home, Inc., in Jasper handled arrangements.
