County Fair Season Prime Time for Biosecurity

It is the height of the county fair and livestock show season around the state; thousands of 4-H and Jr. show youth are loading up animals and hitting the road. This means biosecurity precautions need to be in place to keep animals safe and disease free. Bethany Funnell, Purdue Extension specialist, says prevention is the key, “The little things we do to prevent transmission and set our animal up to combat it and get better quicker is all a step in the right direction.”

During the annual Purdue Day of Giving Wednesday, April 30, there will be opportunities to help promote and support the college through participation in social media challenges in addition to giving.

PVM Faculty Member Sarah Waxman, leader of Purdue’s Equestrian Team, honored as Outstanding Advisor of the Year

People in the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine know Dr. Sarah Waxman as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, boarded large animal surgeon and clinician with the Veterinary Hospital’s Equine Field Service. They may not realize she also has played a key role in the success of the Purdue Equestrian Team, for which she serves as advisor.

Comfort for Koda
