Purdue Veterinary Medicine Hosts Successful Small Ruminant Producer Workshop

Purdue Farm Animal Hospital clinicians put out the welcome mat on a recent Saturday morning for goat and sheep producers from across Indiana who were looking for practical help and guidance in their roles as commercial and show stock producers. A special half-day Small Ruminant Producer Workshop hosted by the Purdue University Veterinary Hospital on November 23 attracted more than 60 attendees, representing 28 farms.
ADDL and Farm Animal Hospital Showcased at 2024 Midwest Pork Conference

More than 300 Indiana pork producers gathered this week in Noblesville, Indiana for the 2024 Midwest Pork Conference, where they had the opportunity to interact with representatives of the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. The Indiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory and Purdue University Farm Animal Hospital were highlighted at the conference’s trade show, which featured more than 50 vendors and served as a center of activity for pork producers, veterinarians, legislators, and industry leaders.

Learning Specialist Joins PVM Student Success Center Team

Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s Student Success Center is pleased to welcome Kelsey Luse Spille, who joined the team Monday, November 4, as a learning specialist. In her new role, she will be supporting students with their academic needs while also serving as a member of the Veterinary Education Support Team (VEST), which assists faculty in developing inclusive teaching practices.
Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine Hosts Reception to Welcome New Dean Bret Marsh

Faculty, staff and students gathered at a reception in the Veterinary Medical Library Friday, November 8, to help extend a warm welcome the new dean of the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Bret Marsh. The event marked the conclusion of the first week on the job for Dr. Marsh, who just started in the role Monday, November 4, after wrapping-up 30 years of service as Indiana State Veterinarian – the state’s top-ranking animal health leader.
PVM Faculty Honored for Research Success with Purdue Seed for Success Acorn Awards

When Purdue University’s Office of Research honored the accomplishments and innovative ideas of a host of researchers this week, several Purdue Veterinary Medicine scholars were among those recognized. At a ceremony Wednesday, November 14, in the Purdue Memorial Union North and South Ballrooms, the annual Seed for Success Acorn Awards were presented to Purdue Principal Investigators (PIs) and co-PIs who secured research awards of $1 million or more for a single proposal in fiscal year 2024.

PVM Bids Fond Farewell to Alumnus and Key Administrator Embarking on Exciting New Challenge

Members of the Purdue Veterinary Medicine community had the opportunity last week to congratulate and say goodbye to a dedicated and much appreciated alumnus as he prepared to take on an exciting new role. Dr. Chad Brown (PU DVM 2001) concluded his role as director of the Purdue Veterinary Nursing Programs Friday, November 1, and transitioned to an exciting new career opportunity as executive director of the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
PVM Admissions Office Welcomes new Admissions Process Manager

This fall marked the start of a new chapter in the life of Purdue alumnus and staff member John Fisher who joined the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Office of Admissions and Recruitment as the Admissions Process Manager. In his new role, John will facilitate the DVM admissions process for the admissions committee while also recruiting for the DVM and Veterinary Nursing programs.
