After a 27 year career at Purdue University, PVM-IT staff member Tom Carnahan was recognized at a retirement reception in his honor December 18 in the Continuum Café. Tom retired as Hospital Information System (HIS) trainer for the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the end of 2017. Tom first started at Purdue in the Psychological Sciences Department in 1990 before joining the staff in the College of Veterinary Medicine seven years later. “I feel very fortunate that Ron took a chance on hiring me,” Tom said, referring to Ron Johnson, PVM director of application development. Tom was greeted at the reception by many well-wishers who expressed appreciation for the help and support he provided in his position. Congratulations Tom and best wishes for your retirement!

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine has named an alumna and longtime Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), who also holds a PharmD degree and serves on the college’s faculty, as the new assistant dean for the Purdue Veterinary Technology Program. Dr. Melinda (Mindy) Anderson, clinical associate professor of basic medical sciences, was appointed to the position effective August 1.
