Response Grows to PVM United Way Campaign

The Purdue Veterinary Medicine family is stepping up to do its part for Purdue University’s 2021 United Way Campaign.  College of Veterinary Medicine Campaign Chairperson Angela Pickett, executive assistant to the dean, says already, nearly $11,500 has been raised in support of United Way’s annual effort to help local agencies.

“Please help our community, if you are able,” Angela said as she encouraged faculty and staff to participate. “Even if you decline to make a pledge, please submit your response. Every response, whether it involves a gift or not, counts toward our overall response rate, which so far is at 12%,” Angela explained. “We want to see the response rate as high as possible.  We just encourage everyone to complete the pledge form regardless of whether you choose to give or not.”

Completing your pledge form is easy!  Just go to the Purdue United Way Campaign website, select “Give Now” or “I Don’t Wish to Give,” and use your Purdue career account to log in and complete the process. 

This year, the Purdue United Way Campaign also features a silent auction that kicked-off Monday, October 4.  Click here to view the items up for bid! 

  • To place a bid, click on an item and log on with your Purdue career account. Note that you WILL NOT be notified if you are outbid, so check back often.
  • The auction runs now through 5:00 p.m. on October 29.  Winners will be contacted for payment (cash or check only made out to United Way of Greater Lafayette) and to make pick-up arrangements.

This year’s Purdue campaign chair is Steve Abel, associate provost for engagement, and Linda Mason, dean of the Graduate School, is the vice chair. “United Way agencies help individuals and families within our community with the challenges they face every single day,” Dr. Abel said. “Together, we can help make life a little easier for the people in our community. As Boilermakers, we know how important it is to come together as a community to help those around us.”

Donors can make an unrestricted gift to the United Way of Greater Lafayette or can choose a specific UWGL agency for their contributions. Gifts can be made through payroll deduction or as a one-time donation. For credit card transactions, the United Way of Greater Lafayette contracts with CyberSource, a trusted name in e-commerce meeting industry security standards.

Purdue’s 2021 United Way campaign goal is $725,000 with over $270,000 raised so far. The campaign ends November 17.

PVM Concludes 2024 with Recognition of Service Anniversaries and Award-winning Staff

As 2024 came to a close at Purdue University, the College of Veterinary Medicine continued a long-standing tradition of celebrating staff service anniversaries and recognizing staff and faculty accomplishments at the Staff Service Recognition Ceremony. Held in Lynn 1136 on Wednesday, December 18, the ceremony honored more than 70 PVM personnel.
