Account Clerk Karla Calvin, in Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Veterinary Administration, was recognized at a farewell reception recently for her dedication to the College during the past 13 years.  In her position, Karla worked in PVM’s Purchasing Center, doing all of the purchasing and also travel, along with various other tasks. “In her time, she has been a part of many changes, both internally and externally,” PVM Business Assistant Peggy Hershberger said as she congratulated Karla on her accomplishments.  The event was held in the Continuum Café Wednesday, April 25, just before Karla left to assume a new position in the Purdue University School of Aviation and Transportation Technology.

Karla started her Purdue University career in 1990 when she joined the Conferences office, and from there went to work as a data entry operator before transferring to the Department of Chemistry. There she began placing orders and took a position in the Chemistry Business Office, before transferring to the Krannert Business Office.  After a leave, during which she worked as a senior buyer in a plumbing business, she returned to Purdue in 2005, joining the Purdue Veterinary Medicine staff.  Peggy noted that during Karla’s time at Purdue, she developed really good working relationships with the faculty and staff.  “I believe she’s shown that by the extra care she has given placing orders and helping the staff getting reimbursed when they travel,” Peggy said. “It is no small task when placing orders, especially when it comes to the research items that we need here in this college. She will be greatly missed.”

Dean Willie Reed also thanked Karla for her years of work in the College.  “Obviously you have touched a lot of people, just look at all the people here today to wish you well,” Dean Reed said.  “Thank you for the many contributions you have made to the success of our college.”
