In Memory: Dr. Marc Hall (PU DVM ’71)

The Purdue Veterinary Medicine family mourns the passing of alumnus Marc A. Hall (PU DVM ’71), of Winter Garden, Fla., who died of cancer and congestive heart failure September 26.  He was 73.

Raised on a farm in Wolcott, Ind., Dr. Hall loved animals and always wanted to become a veterinarian.  After earning his Purdue DVM degree in 1971, Dr. Hall went on to complete an internship at the University of Minnesota. He worked for two successful small animal practices in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Cincinnati, Ohio, before deciding to open his own small animal practice, the Ocoee Animal Hospital, in Florida’s West Orange County, in 1976.  At the time, there were few other veterinary clinics in central Florida.  He retired in 2015.

Known for his sense of humor, Dr. Hall is remembered for always having a joke or story to share.  He served as president of the Central Florida Veterinary Medical Association and was a lifetime member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Even after retiring, he kept up his AVMA membership and attended annual courses to further his understanding of small animal care.  He also became a member of St. Vincent de Paul, which runs a food pantry for those in need at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Pine Hills, Fla.

Due to the pandemic, a private family funeral mass and interment were conducted.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church, 801 N. Hastings St., Orlando, FL 32808 in care of Fr. Leo Hodges, pastor, for St. Vincent de Paul charitable works or needs of the church.
