Purpose

To recognize and honor faculty and/or staff of the Colleges and Schools of Veterinary Medicine in the Midwest Region who have shown exemplary dedication to the advancement of diversity and inclusion, thereby supporting an academic environment that is welcoming, inclusive and conducive to the success of all faculty, staff and students.

Eligibility

All faculty and staff members who are currently employed on a full-time basis by the Schools and Colleges of Veterinary Medicine in the Midwest Region.  Recipients of the award shall be ineligible for reconsideration for the following 4 years.

Criteria for selection

The faculty or staff member should have demonstrated dedication to the advancement of diversity and inclusion at the schools and colleges as evidenced by: working towards creating and maintaining an inclusive environment; having a positive impact on students; and helping other faculty and/or staff to become allies to issues around diversity/inclusion.

Nomination Document

The nomination document should not exceed 4 pages with no less than 12-point, single-spaced font, and 1-inch margins. The nomination document should include all of the following:

  1. A narrative explaining the evidence of commitment to diversity and inclusion
  2. Leadership activities related to diversity and inclusion
  3. Teaching and or student-centered honors and awards
  4. Involvement in extracurricular student activities

The nominee’s Curriculum Vitae or résumé should be submitted with the nomination (not included in the 4 page limit).
