The Role of Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories in National AMR Surveillance Programs

Abstract
The Indiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory at Purdue University has participated in both FDA and USDA-led national AMR surveillance programs since 2017 and 2018, respectively. These programs highlight the importance of a one-health approach to combating AMR.

Dr. Kenitra Hendrix
Purdue University
Dr. Hendrix serves as the Director of Indiana’s Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) and leads the Bacteriology and Mycology section of the ADDL. She earned her BS in Microbiology and her DVM both from Auburn University. She earned her PhD and completed a Clinical Microbiology Residency at Washington State University. Dr. Hendrix is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists.
