Dr. S. Kathleen Salisbury, Purdue Veterinary Medicine associate dean for academic affairs, was honored recently by the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association as the recipient of the association’s annual President’s Award.


Experienced agricultural leader joins Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine to strengthen constituent relationships

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine has appointed Julia Wickard, a longtime agricultural leader in Indiana, as the college’s new constituent liaison and executive director of the Purdue Veterinary Alumni Association, effective February 24. Wickard, of Greenfield, Indiana, most recently served as the state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA). Her new position at Purdue represents a homecoming for the Purdue alumna, who earned her BA degree in agricultural communications and political science at Purdue.


New Intern Joins PVM Communications Team

The Purdue Veterinary Medicine communications team is pleased to welcome a new intern, Caroline Keim, who started February 14. Caroline is a senior studying media and mass communications, as well as professional writing, through the Brian Lamb School of Communications in the College of Liberal Arts.


New Faculty Member Joins Comparative Pathobiology Department and Reed ADDL

The College of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Comparative Pathobiology recently welcomed Dr. Rachel Soltys as clinical assistant professor of diagnostic microbiology. Dr. Soltys, who started January 20, also serves as section head of Bacteriology in the Willie M. Reed Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL).

Dr. Darryl Ragland Named as Purdue Veterinary Medicine Extension Director

Purdue Professor of Food Animal Production Medicine Darryl Ragland has been selected as the director of extension for the College of Veterinary Medicine. In that role, he will oversee the activities of the college’s extension service, which shares practical applications of Purdue research with livestock producers in Indiana and around the world, and enables Hoosier farmers to raise animals using healthy and sustainable livestock production practices.
