Because Small Animal Primary Care is part of a teaching hospital, our appointments typically last longer than you may be accustomed to in your experience with ordinary veterinary practices. We value your time and appreciate your patience with us as our students, staff and clinicians invest extra measures of attention, mindfulness and care into every appointment.

It does take a bit longer. However, it is worth it. The doctors, students and staff are all wonderful, and as part of a school, they have top notch research and resources and knowledge. I understand it’s a teaching hospital, so sometimes it does take a bit longer with services. However, it is worth it.

Owner of cats Jamie and Zoe, Client since 2014

The appointments take a little longer, but you’re getting two exams. You buy into the fact it’s a teaching practice when you go there. And what the patient presents can make a difference if they’ve got to consult with a specialist. You might have to wait longer because the doctor has more work to do. I just take that stuff in stride and appreciate the extra care they’re taking with my cat.

After the Appointment

The student assigned to care for your pet will follow up with you by phone to report test results, check on how your pet is doing and answer any questions you may have.

We like the interactions with both the veterinarians and the students. We like the quality of care and the ability to discuss our concerns with the same veterinarian on subsequent visits. We also appreciate the addition of the liaison to help with coordination of our visits.
