Using zebrafish as a model, we are interested in vertebrate embryonic development and tumorigenesis. For embryonic development, we focus on the roles of ion channels and bioelectricity during organogenesis and patterning. In addition, we utilize the zebrafish model for cancer research to understand aneuploidy and cancer-driver genes. We strive to unravel the roles of these genetic changes in cancer, blending insights from evolutionary biology to advance our understanding of cancer for improved treatments and diagnostics.
