In Memory: Dr. Scott Borter (PU DVM ’89)

The Purdue Veterinary Medicine family is saddened to learn that Dr. Scott E. Borter (PU DVM ’89) of Odon, Ind., died Friday, January 24. He was 55.

After earning his Purdue DVM degree in 1989, Dr. Borter owned and operated the Bloomfield Veterinary Clinic for more than 30 years. He was described as having a true passion for caring for animals that was evident in his work. Dr. Borter also served on the Greene County Humane Society Board and was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Odon United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and tractor rides with his granddaughter. He also was regarded as a great mentor who loved life, laughter, telling jokes, and going out to eat with his family. His favorite activities included spending time with friends and family outdoors water skiing, snowboarding, riding roller coasters, and bailing hay.

Funeral services to honor the life of Dr. Borter were held yesterday (Thursday, January 30) at the Odon United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been handled by the Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon, Ind. Click here to share condolences and memories with the family.

In Memory – Dr. Raymond E. Plue (PU DVM ’68)

The Purdue Veterinary Medicine community is deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Raymond E. Plue, who was a generous, fun-loving, adventuresome and larger-than-life alumnus. Dr. Plue passed away Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Columbia, Missouri. He was 81.

Annual Dr. Skip Jackson Dog Jog grows in participation and dollars raised

The numbers are in from the 2026 Dr. Skip Jackson Dog Jog and they paint a beautiful picture of a very successful event, both in terms of the number of human and canine participants and the funds raised for Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s Priority 4 Paws shelter medicine program. Beautiful weather and the enthusiasm of both dogs and runners contributed to the fun and excitement of the annual 5K run/walk, which generated numerous fun photo ops and raised significant funds for a good cause.
