This week we commend Yasumasa Iimori, DVM, PhD, who is a resident in Emergency and Critical Care in the Purdue University Veterinary Hospital. The hospital received a heartfelt letter of appreciation from a client for the extraordinary compassion and care that Dr. Iimori demonstrated during a recent emergency case involving the client’s beloved cat, Joey. The client shared how Dr. Iimori rushed into the waiting area to take care of Joey when they arrived at the ER, and showed his genuine caring as the cat began to revive in her presence after the team worked to stabilize him. The next day she had to return when Joey suffered a major setback, but she was thankful that Dr. Iimori was on duty again. Knowing this time that she needed to let Joey go, she appreciated all the more Dr. Iimori’s heartfelt communication. “Losing a pet can be an incredibly difficult experience,” the client shared. “But somehow, through his generosity, knowledge, and compassion, Dr. Iimori helped me remember that life goes on. Joey had a good life, and I was blessed to have sixteen and a half years with him.” She added that Dr. Iimori “…has something special within him that resonates with people who are grieving.”
Thank you Dr. Iimori for having such a meaningful and uplifting influence on this client during a very challenging time, and for taking such good care of both Joey the cat and his owner.
