Head, Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences
The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine is inviting applications for the position of Head of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, one of three academic departments in the College. We seek an individual with strong leadership skills, a nationally/internationally recognized record of research and scholarship, and active participation in professional activities. Purdue University is making a high level of investment in life science research and provides exciting opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary research through the NCI-supported Purdue Center for Cancer Research, Discovery Park, the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, the Indiana CTSI and multiple departments and centers across campus.
The successful candidate must meet the qualifications for appointment as a tenured full professor. Qualified applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree; MS/PhD degrees and board certification in a clinical specialty area are preferred. Administrative experience is desirable. Teaching in the professional curriculum and commitment to advancing the missions of teaching (including instruction in DVM, post-DVM, and Veterinary Technology programs), research, and service (hospital-based and extension activities), as described in the College and Departmental strategic plans, are essential. Candidates must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to lead approximately 50 faculty members, 35-40 residents/graduate students, and a team of technicians. The applicant must be committed to promoting the career development of others and to promoting an atmosphere of diversity and inclusion. The incumbent will work closely with the Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital to coordinate departmental activities with clinical services. The position requires a strong commitment to scholarship, extension and outreach activities, alumni and public relations, and relations with veterinary organizations. The appointee will serve on the College’s Senior Leadership Team and Administrative Council.

- Clinical Instructor in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Purdue University has a one year clinical instructor position available in small animal soft tissue surgery. Completion of a small animal surgery residency is required. This position will be available August 1, 2014, to July 30, 2015. Clinic time will be 60-70% with shared emergency call. Time off-clinics will be provided to study for the ACVS exam. Although the position focus is soft tissue surgery, opportunity may be provided for orthopedic clinical time depending on candidate preference.
