PVM Faculty and Staff Honored at Ceremony in Lynn Hall

June 9, 2016

A capacity crowd gathered Thursday, May 26 for a ceremony and reception in the Continuum Café to recognize the recipients of the 2016 Outstanding Staff Awards and the faculty and staff who have completed the Center of Excellence for Diversity and Inclusion in Veterinary Medicine Certificate Program. The Outstanding Staff Award, given since 1988, recognizes outstanding performance by PVM’s non-faculty, full-time employees in four categories: excellence in service to the students, staff, faculty, and other constituencies in PVM; excellence in enhancing the image of the College with its public; excellence in public and professional services and relations; and exceptional performance of assigned duties above and beyond that ordinarily expected of the position. This year’s recipients include Stephanie Stillwell, for the active role she plays in the Large Animal Hospital by exemplifying outstanding customer service and supporting our doctors, technicians, and students in delivering patient care; and Pam Hartman, for all the great work she has done for the Department of Comparative Pathobiology and for PVM. Congratulations Stephanie and Pam!

Certificates were also presented to faculty and staff members who completed the Online Certificate Program for Diversity and Inclusion in Veterinary Medicine, developed in conjunction with the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges through PVM’s Center of Excellence for Diversity and Inclusion. This certificate program involves a series of online modules, volunteer community service, cultural events and lectures, national and regional meeting focused on diversity and inclusion, and a reflection on these experiences through a capstone paper applying the information gained through the program to strengthen diversity and inclusion in veterinary medicine. Certificates of completion were awarded to: Paige Allen, RVT; Dr. Aimee Brooks; Dr. Abigail Durkes; Adrianne Fisch; Dr. Roman Pogranichniy; Gloria Powell; Marisol Uribe; Brittany Vale; Andrea Waibel; and Dr. Hsin-Yi Weng.

Sixteen staff members also received Bravo Awards at the ceremony. Attendees were treated to refreshments at a reception directly following the ceremony.  Click here to view and download photos from the reception (photos courtesy of Lausch Photography).
