Fort Wayne Dog Jog Supports Fund to Help Purdue VTH Patients from Allen County

August 26, 2016

Organizers say they had a fantastic turnout for the first-annual Allen County Area Assistance Fund (ACAAF) Dog Jog to raise money to assist residents in the Fort Wayne area with treatment costs at Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s Small Animal Hospital.  The event was held last Saturday, August 20, at Fort Wayne’s Foster Park.  A collection of photos can be viewed on Facebook.

WANE-TV in Fort Wayne covered the event and reported that the plans came together after a Fort Wayne pet-owner, Lisa Clemens, was referred to the Purdue Animal Emergency Service.  Lisa’s four-year-old Maltipoo named “Mazie” was evaluated immediately by the emergency staff and underwent testing and treatment over the span of two days.  Lisa told the TV station, even though Mazie passed away, she found comfort in knowing she did everything she could do to help her, including giving her the best care possible.  “This experience made us want to do something to help other people and their beloved pets who are faced with a similar situation,” Lisa was quoted as saying.
