'Bigger and Better' Purdue Day of Giving Boosts Support for PVM

April 29, 2016

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine and SCAVMA during the third annual Purdue Day of Giving held Wednesday (April 27). Purdue Veterinary Medicine finished tenth overall among 59 Purdue colleges and units in the fundraising campaign with gifts totaling $428,043, which netted the College an additional $2,340 in bonus prize money!  "I'm continually amazed by the generous spirit of our PVM Family on this special day," said PVM Director of Advancement Chad Rohlfs.  "Each year, the enthusiasm for this event continues to grow and it is just a special time of celebration across the entire campus."

Also as part of the Purdue Day of Giving, SCAVMA ranked 15th out of 141 participating student organizations and won the hourly challenge at 6:00 p.m. for 50thoriginal tweet, securing an additional $1,000 in prize money.  For the university overall, Purdue’s Day of Giving raised a record $18.3 million from 12,872 donations in 24 hours - and claiming, for the second year running, the record for most dollars raised for higher education through a single-day campaign.

Purdue Veterinary Medicine had a strong presence throughout the day with appearances on the Purdue Day of Giving media feed and a special "Thank You" from Purdue University's Facebook page to Lisa and Dick Brown for their generous gift in support of Dr. Knapp and the Purdue Comparative Oncology Program’s research to find a cure for canine bladder cancer.  "Thank you to everyone who made a gift, and also helped spread the word through social media," Chad said.  "Together, your support makes a tremendous impact, greatly benefitting our PVM students and programs."
