NAVC Profiles Paige Allen, RVT, as New Board Member

The North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) put Purdue Veterinary Medicine Distance Learning Instructional Technologist Paige Allen, RVT, in the spotlight as part of its “Profiles in Leadership” series.  Paige, who works with the PVM Veterinary Technology Distance Learning Program (VTDL), is one of two new members of the Board of Directors for the NAVC, which runs the annual continuing education conference in Orlando.  Dean Willie Reed introduced Paige as a new NAVC board member at the Purdue Alumni Reception held during the 2015 NAVC meeting in January.

“Profiles in Leadership” is a monthly NAVC Connect2Care on-line feature dedicated to providing “insight into the bright minds of leaders in the global veterinary healthcare community.”  Stating that Paige will “…add tremendous value and perspective to our board,” the on-line article included a question and answer section about Paige.  Asked what excites her about becoming a member of the NAVC Board of Directors, Paige said she wants to “…give back to the profession that I love. I have been a veterinary technician for almost 30 years. This profession is my passion, and I believe in what veterinary technicians can do for our patients and the veterinarians we work with on a daily basis.” She added, she views the NAVC as an amazing, forward-thinking organization that believes in the veterinary team.

Paige also talked about how the Purdue VTDL Program has evolved with technology, and about her views on time management, leadership, being a good practice manager, and work-life balance. Paige earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in Animal Health Technology from National College in 1984, her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1996, and her Master of Science degree in Educational Technology at Purdue in 2005.  Click here to read the entire interview.  Paige also is referred to in an article about the NAVC in the April 1, 2015 news section of the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA).
