Get Outdoors with Dogs and Golf

August 6, 2014

Whether you like jogging with your dog or golfing with friends and fellow alumni, Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s Fall Conference week provides opportunities to do both.  Golf enthusiasts can get a jump-start on the week by attending the Indiana Animal Health Foundation / PVM golf outing at Purdue’s Kampen Course on Tuesday, September 9.  All funds raised will be used for scholarships and the support of student activities.  For information and a registration form, click here.

Wrapping up the festivities will be the annual Dr. Skip Jackson Dog Jog Saturday, September 13.  The student-run event is open to the public and consists of a 5K and newly added 10K run/walk through the Purdue campus.  Participants in this growing annual event have included faculty, staff, students, alumni and community residents who come with or without a furry canine companion.  The event is named in honor of Professor Emeritus of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry Horace "Skip" Jackson, who has participated in nearly every race since the original event was held in 1972.  All proceeds will go to the PVM PetSafe Program, a community service offered by the College to meet the short-term housing needs of pets whose owners are temporarily unable to provide care.  For more information and to register, click here.
