The group of nine veterinarians along with a Purdue PharmD graduate kicked-off their yearlong programs with a two-week intensive orientation that began Monday, June 15.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eight doctors will complete a rotating internship in the hospital with a focus on small animal medicine and surgery. Additionally, a large animal medicine and surgery intern joins the hospital\u2019s satellite facility, <a href=\"https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/equine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Centaur Equine Specialty Hospital<\/a>, in Shelbyville, Ind. The clinical internship program is designed to provide advanced training to qualify each doctor for an approved residency program leading to board certification in a recognized veterinary specialty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The college\u2019s new Wasson Veterinary Pharmacy Resident, Alissa Kruger, PharmD, will complete her program in the hospital\u2019s pharmacy service. The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine and the College of Pharmacy jointly offer the residency in veterinary clinical pharmacy practice, named in honor of the donors who contributed significant funding to support the position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please help extend a warm welcome to these newest members of the Purdue Veterinary Medicine family!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Large Animal Medicine and Surgery Interns<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Annie Oakes<\/strong> \u2013 DVM, University of Prince Edward Island<br><em>Interesting Fact: Dr. Oakes recently completed an internship at the Montana Equine Medical and Surgical Center.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Interns<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Montana Campbell<\/strong> \u2013 DVM, Ross University<br><em>Interesting Fact: A Purdue graduate with a degree in animal science, Dr. Campbell is interested in cardiology, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine.<\/em><\/li><li><strong>Allison Dianis<\/strong> \u2013 DVM, University of Illinois<br><em>Interesting Fact: Dr. Dianis\u2019 interests include zoo and wildlife medicine, anatomic pathology, and one health.<\/em><\/li><li><strong>Susan Fraley<\/strong> \u2013 DVM, Washington State University<br><em>Interesting Fact: Dr. Fraley has worked as a small animal practitioner since 2001, and recently worked with the Purdue Veterinary Hospital\u2019s Emergency Service.<\/em><\/li><li><strong>Erica Grier<\/strong> \u2013 DVM, University of Wisconsin-Madison<br><em>Interesting Fact: Dr. Grier is especially interested in the behavior and mental health of all species and hopes to pursue a residency in behavior medicine.<\/em><\/li><li><strong>George Munguia<\/strong> \u2013 DVM, University of Prince Edward Island<br><em>Interesting Fact: Originally from California, Dr. Munguia has also lived in Puerto Rico where he worked as a veterinary technician in a small animal clinic.<\/em><\/li><li><strong>Ruby Ng<\/strong> \u2013 DVM, Tufts University<br><em>Interesting Fact: Before completing veterinary school, Dr. Ng worked in a genetics research lab at Mount Sinai where she helped build and maintain its first germ-free mice colony.<\/em><\/li><li><strong>Jacqueline \u201cJacky\u201d Peraza<\/strong> \u2013 DVM, Iowa State University<br><em>Interesting Fact: Dr. Pereza has a special interest in ophthalmology.<\/em><\/li><li><strong>Frances Torres-Otero<\/strong> \u2013 DVM, North Carolina State University<br><em>Interesting Fact:&nbsp;
