{"id":877,"date":"2018-04-13T08:00:36","date_gmt":"2018-04-13T12:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qa.vet.purdue.edu\/news\/?p=877"},"modified":"2025-12-02T10:44:51","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T15:44:51","slug":"pvm-open-house-to-attract-hundreds-to-lynn-hall-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/news\/pvm-open-house-to-attract-hundreds-to-lynn-hall-tomorrow.php","title":{"rendered":"PVM Open House to Attract Hundreds to Lynn Hall Tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With a theme focused on \u201cOne Health,\u201d the 2018 <a href=\"https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/openhouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Purdue Veterinary Medicine Open House<\/a> will draw hundreds of visitors to the College of Veterinary Medicine tomorrow (Saturday, April 14).\u00a0 After months of planning and organizing by a team of PVM students, the annual event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in and around Lynn Hall.\u00a0 A host of volunteers will be busy today and tonight transforming Lynn Hall into a showcase for veterinary medicine and the human-animal bond.\u00a0 Preparations already are underway, with a variety of informational signs popping-up around the building, like May flowers after April snow showers\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/openhouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Open House<\/a> is part of Purdue University\u2019s Spring Fest \u2013 a free university-wide event showcasing animals, art, insects, and more.\u00a0 Click here to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=uAW90LvYjFU&amp;feature=youtu.be\">view a Purdue NOW video previewing the 2018 Spring Fest events<\/a>, including the PVM Open House.\u00a0 PVM students also have prepared a variety of videos about the Open House, accessible from the Open House webpage.\u00a0 Click here for <a href=\"https:\/\/ag.purdue.edu\/springfest\/Pages\/default.aspx\">more information about the campus-wide Spring Fest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 2018 Open House theme is \u201cOne Health, One Goal. Because Our Health Depends On Theirs.&#8221;\u00a0 The day\u2019s activities will include new events, such as an exhibit staffed by Dr. Jeanette McGavic, the Indiana State Department of Health\u2019s vector-borne epidemiologist for Central Indiana, who will help visitors learn about the West Nile virus, ticks and tick-borne disease in Indiana, and other topics related to public health entomology.\u00a0 There also will be plenty of perennial Open House favorites like the petting zoo, painted horse, teddy bear clinic, admissions talk, Veterinary Teaching Hospital tours, and the opportunity to view a narrated live spay surgery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With a theme focused on \u201cOne Health,\u201d the 2018 Purdue Veterinary Medicine Open House will draw hundreds of visitors to the College of Veterinary Medicine tomorrow (Saturday, April 14).
