The Fall Extravaganza provides students and faculty with the opportunity to discuss international learning experiences with those in the College who have participated in study abroad programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/International_extravaganza4_edited-1024x687.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Santos speaks with students at a table at the Fall Extravaganza event in the Lynn Hall Courtyard\" class=\"wp-image-6219\" width=\"400\" height=\"268\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/International_extravaganza4_edited-1024x687.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/International_extravaganza4_edited-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/International_extravaganza4_edited-768x515.jpg 768w, https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/International_extravaganza4_edited-350x235.jpg 350w, https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/International_extravaganza4_edited.jpg 1087w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><figcaption>Dr. Andrea Santos, assistant professor of veterinary clinical pathology, discusses details of her faculty-led study abroad program in Brazil with first-year veterinary students at the Fall Extravaganza.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event was held in the Lynn Hall courtyard, which was festooned with a variety of international-themed decorations.&nbsp; Another feature of the event was a buffet of Thai-inspired dishes from Noodles and Company.&nbsp; Attendees also could view displays featuring each of the College\u2019s study abroad options, including programs in South Africa, Nepal, China, Japan, and Chile.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also at the event, participants voted on entries in the Global Engagement office\u2019s photo contest.&nbsp; The winners were announced Monday, September 30, and included Julie Mosher, of the DVM Class of 2020, who submitted the first place photo in the Landscape category; and Kindele Lenoir, of the DVM Class of 2022, who submitted the first prize photo in the \u201cI am a Future Vet\/Vet Nurse\u201d category.&nbsp; Photos entered in the contest will be featured in the coming months on the College\u2019s Instagram feed.&nbsp; They can be viewed using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/explore\/tags\/pvmglobal19\/\">#pvmglobal19<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now that you know all the fun involved, make sure you don\u2019t miss out on next year&#8217;s International Extravaganza! \u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity to come and learn from students who have studied abroad or to share your own wonderful experiences,\u201d said Global Engagement Director Will Smith. \u201cTake Wendell Berry&#8217;s advice, \u2018Nobody can discover the world for somebody else. Only when we discover it for ourselves, does it become common ground and a common bond [where] we cease to be alone.\u2019 Remember, as prospective leading veterinary professionals in a multicultural and global marketplace, cultural competencies are vital to your future success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you to everyone who came out to this year\u2019s
