Small Animal Hospital Veterinary Nursing Manager Megan\nBrashear, CVT, VTS (ECC), was named as one of the 2019 WVC Continuing Educators\nof the Year.&nbsp; Rehabilitation Technician,\nJessica Bowditch, RVT, CCRP, won Best Presentation for a case report that she\ngave during the conference. The WVC Conference is an annual event that draws over\n15,000 attendees and provides an opportunity for veterinary professionals to\nnetwork, improve their practice, and stay up to date on new technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Megan, who\nhas 18 years of experience in emergency and critical care and technician\/team\nmanagement and training, was selected as the WVC Veterinary Technician Educator\nof the Year. Each year, conference attendees choose the presenters who they\nfeel are superior in their ability to deliver information with insight,\naccuracy, depth, and openness.&nbsp; Megan is\none of eight instructors recognized for making a lasting impression and impact\nat the 2019 WVC Annual Conference.&nbsp; The\nWVC praised Megan and the other Continuing Educators of the Year for taking the\nlead role in furthering veterinary education and for providing exceptional and\ninspiring instruction for the conference\u2019s scientific education courses and\npractice management sessions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Image-3-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Jessica Bowditch pictured with award\" class=\"wp-image-3963\" width=\"236\" height=\"315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Image-3-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Image-3-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Image-3-176x235.jpg 176w, https:\/\/vet.purdue.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Image-3.jpg 810w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 236px) 100vw, 236px\" \/><figcaption>Jessica Bowditch with her Best Presentation Award from the NAVTA Technician Case Report session at the WVC Conference.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Jessica was one of six participants in the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) Technician Case Report session held February 20. Her presentation focused on the case of a police K9 officer named \u201cSheriff Bruno,\u201d who came to the Physical Rehabilitation service in 2016, following a bilateral femoral head and neck osteotomy performed by the Hospital\u2019s Small Animal Orthopedic Surgery team.\u00a0 At the time, Bruno was a three-year-old American Bulldog that worked for the Lake County, Ind.
