The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine welcomed alumni and friends for an evening of fellowship and renewing acquaintances in Anaheim, California as the Purdue Veterinary Alumni Association hosted its annual alumni reception in conjunction with the American Veterinary Medical Association Convention 2026. Held on Friday, July 10, just as the convention was getting underway, the reception provided an opportunity for Purdue graduates from across the country to reconnect with classmates, faculty, and colleagues while celebrating the lifelong relationships that define the Purdue Veterinary Medicine family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the evening, conversations centered on shared memories, professional accomplishments, and excitement about the future of the college. Alumni heard updates regarding Purdue Veterinary Medicine\u2019s continued momentum, including new opportunities to engage with students, support strategic priorities, and strengthen the profession through philanthropy and volunteer leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our alumni are the heart of Purdue Veterinary Medicine,” said Julia Wickard, executive director of the Purdue Veterinary Alumni Association and constituent liaison. “Every conversation reminds us that the bonds formed at Purdue last a lifetime. It is a privilege to reconnect with our graduates, thank them for their continued support, and share the exciting vision for the future of our college.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s reception also highlighted the benefits of collaboration. Purdue partnered with the University of Minnesota to share event space, creating an efficient and welcoming environment while allowing each institution to celebrate its own alumni community. The partnership reflected a spirit of cooperation that benefits veterinary advancement and demonstrates how colleges can work together while proudly celebrating their unique traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hosting alumni events during national veterinary meetings remains an important part of Purdue Veterinary Medicine\u2019s commitment to meeting alumni where they are. \u201cBy connecting with graduates at conferences across the country, the college continues to strengthen relationships, celebrate alumni achievements, and build meaningful opportunities for engagement,\u201d Wickard said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a Purdue Veterinary Medicine alumnus himself, Dean Bret Marsh appreciated the opportunity to talk with fellow graduates at the reception and share about exciting developments at the college. \u201cAlumni expressed enthusiasm for the college’s direction and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Purdue Veterinary Medicine through mentorship, volunteer service, advocacy, and philanthropy,\u201d Wickard shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe evening served as a reminder that while alumni may practice in different communities and across a wide range of specialties, they remain united by their Purdue experience and a shared passion for advancing veterinary medicine,\u201d Wickard added. \u201cTogether, these relationships continue to strengthen the Purdue Veterinary Alumni Association, inspire future generations of Boilermaker veterinarians, and help move the College of Veterinary Medicine confidently forward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
