There, Blackie received intensive treatment, including insulin therapy, fluid support, and around-the-clock monitoring. Slowly, he regained strength and was able to return home.<\/p>\n\n\n\nMonths later, when Blackie collapsed again, Brian returned to Purdue, fearing the worst. During that second emergency, he found reassurance when the same veterinarian who had cared for Blackie previously stepped into the room. He also remembers the kindness of a veterinary student who spent extra time sitting with Blackie before and after shifts, offering comfort during a difficult moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With his condition carefully managed, Blackie was able to continue enjoying life at Brian\u2019s side. Brian credits the Purdue Veterinary Hospital for saving Blackie, not once, but twice, and for giving Brian and Blackie more time together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blackie returned one more time to the Purdue Veterinary Hospital\u2019s Emergency Service on February 26 of this year, when he passed away. Although Brian continues to grieve that loss, he remains deeply grateful for the care Blackie received and for the extra time they were given together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt has been very hard,\u201d Brian shared. \u201cHe was my buddy and I miss him so much, and my brother does as well. I will never forget the great care that the Purdue Veterinary Hospital team gave him in extending his life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
